HISTORY:
In the mid 1970's George was developing his ESP act. He memorized the Al Baker memory code for memorizing a deck of cards. It was a chore to learn. One had to memorize a code of 52 key words that corresponded to each card in a deck of cards.
HOW THE AL BAKER MOTHOD WORKS
You then used these key words as a memory code. A deck of cards is shuffled and cut in half. As you looked at a one half of the deck, one card at a time, you created stories using each card's key word. You then memorized this story and could tell people what cards they were holding. It was a very slow, laborious process. Because of the method, most people could not do the trick more than once a day due to the fact you had to sleep-off the relationships (stories) you created in your mind before making up new stories.
A SIMPLE, NEW METHOD IS BORN
It was the middle of the night when George awoke all excited. He ran into his son's room and woke Alan exclaiming, "I FIGURED IT OUT, I FIGURED IT OUT!"
What he had figured out was how to use a STRIPPER DECK" of cards, instead of memorizing the entire deck of cards, to do the same effect. After endless contemplation on the method, he had created a new and original code to pre-set the deck, and then he could strip the deck and tell each person, via ESP, what cards they were holding.
He began performing his method & perfecting the code. However, the set-up was very vulnerable because if one card was reversed in the deck (usually as the volunteer shuffled) it would destroy the entire set-up.
A SIMPLE SOLUTION (after months of research and development):
George began the long process of figuring out how to design a deck of cards that was fool proof, simple to use, and no matter how a volunteer shuffled or dropped the cards, the set-up would remain in tact.
Why do so many of George's methods become classics? Simplicity. Most of his inventions and routines (there are exceptions in his earlier work) are impressive, yet take little skill or practice, have a low failure rate and take no complex set-ups. It is what makes Magic Created by George Sands so spectacular and popular. We have the only cards on the market that are custom die cut to perform these tricks. The deck is called a "POT BELLY DECK"
